Ottawa Food Bank Top 5 Things Needed this Holiday Season

30 11 2011

We are honoured to be able to help out our charity of choice, The Ottawa Food Bank, with partial proceeds for the Ottawa Rock Lotteries.  Just a quick reminder that people in the arts scene are just as reliant upon the food bank as others, so please give generously this Christmas season.

Amos were supposed to participate in the Rock Lotto in May but unfortunately they had to pull out last minute.  So we called in a favor for the OIFF event.

We’re thrilled to have them perform a rare acoustic concert with all 7 members on December 14th.

Here’s a little taste of what you can expect to see!

Rock Lotto and OIFF are at it again!

21 11 2011

So you might remember seeing a bunch of cameras at the Ottawa Rock Lotto in May, but what you may not have known was why. A documentary feature was shot by The Indefinite Project on the Ottawa Rock Lottery. The local film crew followed the bands from their very formation and shot over the same 24 hour period that the musicians had to create the music, even breaking into jam spaces to get the shot. The interviews are candid, and often hilarious with all of the groups involved. The documentary provides a rare glimpse into the most elite musicians of Ottawa’s intimate jam spaces. The documentary shows the beginning of the songs to later show live footage of the final products. The new camraderie between artists, and general respect is inspiring nailing home the point: Who needs a scene when you can have a community?”

(I’ve watched it at least 8 times and have caught myself chuckling every single time.)

The event will be officially announced in the next day but mark this down:  Wednesday, December 14 @ Mercury Lounge – Doors at 7 p.m.- $8 – 19+
