Partus Films capturing "Rockcess" this past weekend.

We had more fun that one could ever imagine shooting our web commercial this past weekend.  Thank you to the 30 of you who came out to help play “Rockcess”- our version of recess.  (That’s your hint for plot!) Partus Films, Halt Imaging and Valkaline worked amazingly well together and we’re stoked to see the final product at the end of this week.

Line ’em up Round 2

A big congrats to Fevers, Zoo Legacy, Loon Choir, The Strain, Fire and Neon, Love Machine and Josef Pollock who have just been announced to play Bluesfest!

A very special thanks to our record store of choice, Vertigo Records!  They’ve got all of your favourites, be it indie or punk, and a wicked selection of vinyl that’s definitely helped us at Rock Lotto head quarters add to our collection. Check them out yourself- they’re just on the way to our event venue at 193 Bank Street.  Plus, they’ve got a great local music section that has a bunch of the ORL participants’ music.  They also sell tons of concert tickets and in about a week, ORL tickets will be there too!

Mackenzie Rhythm Section Added

Ottawa funk-soul-rockers Mackenzie Rhythm Section have just been added to our growing line-up of ever-cool artists.  These guys remind us of some of our favourite records from the late 1960s to mid 1970s.   Especially this track “Acabo”!

Centretown’s got a new kid on the block with Pressed at 750 Gladstone.  Serving up gourmet panini-style sandwiches inspired by Brooklyn eateries, they’ve generously agreed to host our announcement night.  Whether you’re enjoying a meal of their pulled pork sammies or cup of coffee while watching some new experimental music, it’s a relaxed place to find yourself in.  Here’s just a hint of what you’ll be able to enjoy there…  (we’re big fans of the mac and cheese with St. Alberts’ cheese curds!)

Actors needed for our web commercial Saturday, April 28!

We need about 15 actors for our Rock Lotto commercial on SATURDAY, APRIL 28 from 12- 3 PM at Plante Recreation Centre’s Park ages 19-35.

This one is going to be super fun again- it’s going to feature a bunch of band folks going for “recess” and playing outside on a playground and toys in all slow-motion. Valkaline and Partus Films are shooting. It will be at Plouffe Park at 930 Somerset St, at Preston. Alternative rain date is same time on Sunday.

There’s no lines or anything like that and it should be a lot of fun. If you have any friends that you could recommend that might be interested please pass this along.  There’s no pay- just a lot of fun, and a chance to go down in ORL History and be a big kid at heart.

ZaZaZa Pizza with Pizazz Presents the Ottawa Rock Lottery

ZaZaZa Pizza with Pizazz is our title sponsor for the 4th Annual Ottawa Rock Lottery.   ZaZaZa makes gourmet thin-crust pizza with delicious toppings and flavours totally original  (like the “Scary Roomate” with KD and Hot Dogs or the luxurious Shangri-la-di-da with Tandoori sauce, sweet peppers, goat cheese, snow peas and honey drizzle.)

Line ’em up! Autumn’s Cannon, The Strain, Elly May & Aardwolf

We’ve gotten confirmation from some more awesome bands including Elly May who have that cool video above and another Big Money Shot Competition winner Autumn’s Cannon who are set to release their LP this summer.  Hopefully in the doc being shot by our friends in the Indefinite Project they can capture some of that magic.
